Pearl Barner II, Ph.D., LP is co-founder and Past-President of the Minnesota Chapter of ABPsi, Past President-Elect of the News Orleans Chapter of ABPsi, and former Mid-West Regional Representative and General Assembly Chair of The Associational of Black Psychologists, and member of the Executive Committee and Treasurer of the Minnesota Psychological Association.  In 2013 he retired from the University of Minnesota where he had served as a Psychologist and Director of Boynton Health Service-Mental Health Clinic, Assistant Vice Provost of the Office of Multicultural Affairs, Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychology, and Adjunct Graduate Faculty in the Counseling and Student Personnel Psychology Program.  In addition, for several years at the University of Minnesota of Minnesota he taught “Racism: Social and Psychological Consequences”(graduate and undergraduate levels) and “Psychology of the African American Experience” in the Department of African American and African Studies.

 

Dr. Barner currently maintains psychology practice in Minneapolis where he provides psychotherapy, consultations and evaluations, teaches a class,  “Psychology of African Americans,” at Metropolitan State University, and is Co-Chair of the Ethics Committee of The Association of Black Psychologists.
